Overview

The Threat Graph feature in ThreatConnect® provides a graph-based interface that you can use to discover, visualize, and contextualize associations and relationships between Indicators, Groups, Cases, and Tags. As you investigate a threat in Threat Graph, you may want to share the graph you created with team members and stakeholders to foster greater understanding of the threat. Threat Graph provides options for saving a graph, exporting a graph, renaming a saved graph, and deleting a saved graph, offering you with convenient ways to distribute and manage a graph.

Before You Start

User Roles

  • To export graphs in Threat Graph, your user account can have any Organization role.
  • To save graphs, rename saved graphs, and delete saved graphs in Threat Graph, your user account must have an Organization role of Standard User, Sharing User, Organization Administrator, or App Developer.

Saving a Graph

Saving a graph lets you and other users in your Organization access it from the Graph screen and add it to reports via a Graph section. Depending on whether you are working with a saved or unsaved graph, the options available when saving the graph will differ.

Note
If you try to refresh, navigate away from, or close the browser tab displaying an unsaved graph or a saved graph with unsaved changes, you will be prompted to confirm the intended action, as doing so will result in the loss of any unsaved changes.

Saving a New Graph

Follow these steps to save a new (i.e., unsaved) graph that is open in Threat Graph:

  1. Click Save Graph in the Threat Graph header.
  2. On the Save this graph window, enter a unique name for the graph. The name can contain only letters, numbers, spaces, dashes, and underscores.
  3. Click Save on the Save this graph window.

Saving Changes to a Saved Graph

If you have a saved graph open in Threat Graph, click Save in the Threat Graph header and select Save Changes to save any changes made to the graph since it was last saved.

Saving a Copy of a Saved Graph

Follow these steps to save a copy of a saved graph that is open in Threat Graph:

  1. Click Save in the Threat Graph header and select Save a copy….
  2. On the Save a copy of this graph window, enter a unique name for the graph. The default value in the Name this graph field will be the name listed in the Threat Graph header with the text “ - Copy” appended to it.
  3. Click Save on the Save a copy of this graph window.

Exporting a Graph

Follow these steps to export a graph that is open in Threat Graph:

  1. Click the ⋯ menu in the Threat Graph header.
  2. Select one of the following export options:
    • Export as JPG: Select this option to export the graph as it is currently displayed in your browser tab as a JPG file.
    • Export as PNG: Select this option to export the graph as it is currently displayed in your browser tab as a PNG file.
Note
Any nodes or connections not visible on the graph when you export it will not be included in the image file downloaded onto your computer.

Renaming a Saved Graph

Follow these steps to rename a saved graph that is open in Threat Graph:

  1. Click the ⋯ menu in the Threat Graph header and select Rename….
  2. On the Rename graph window, enter a new, unique name for the graph, and then click OK.
Note
You may also rename a saved graph on the Graph screen.

Deleting a Saved Graph

Follow these steps to delete a saved graph that is open in Threat Graph:

  1. Click the ⋯ menu in the Threat Graph header and select Delete….
  2. On the Delete graph window, click Delete.
