# The Playbook Designer Overview

## Overview

The Playbooks feature allows ThreatConnect® users to automate cyberdefense tasks via a drag-and-drop interface. The **Playbook Designer** is a tabbed interface in which you can manage individual Playbooks in your ThreatConnect instance. From this screen, you can add and configure Playbook elements (Triggers, Apps, and Operators), create and operate [Run Profiles](/v1/docs/playbooks-run-profiles), access a Playbook’s [version history](/v1/docs/playbook-versions), create global variables, [view execution details and logs](/v1/docs/playbook-executions), and access [administrative functions and settings](/v1/docs/administration-and-settings) for the Playbook. This series of articles provides a tour of all of the features available on the **Playbook Designer** screen, describes how to design a Playbook (that is, build the Playbook by adding and connecting elements) and use the formatting features in the **Playbook Designer**, and provides a list of the keyboard and mousewheel shortcuts available in the **Playbook Designer**.
