Here Administrators can create Quick Links, specify Authentication methods, and adjust SMTP settings. 

This page can be accessed by Administrators by clicking on the Server Configuration page link in the left navigation bar.

Configuring Quick Links

Quick Links allow you to link to a 3rd party resource from within the Polarity Overlay.  The URLs are displayed as a part of the contextual data for an Entity.

Steps for adding a Quick Link:

  1. From the Quick Links tab, Click on Add URL.

  2. Provide a title for the URL.

  3. Provide a description of the URL.

  4. Provide the URL.

  5. Click on the SAVE CHANGES button in the top right of the toolbar.

Client Authentication

Client Authentication is where you will be allowed to select the method for user authentication.

There are three options for authenticating to Polarity Web and the Polarity Desktop Client:

  1. Local Authentication

  2. Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) / Active Directory (AD)

  3. SAML

Lightweight Directory Access Protocol

Polarity can be integrated with your company's Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) system. 

To set up LDAP:

  1. Navigate to Server Configuration

  2. Click on the Client Authentication tab

  3. Here you will be provided with three methods for user authentication, Local Authentication, Lightweight Directory Access Protocol and Active Directory. Navigate to Lightweight Directory Access Protocol.

  4. Once in the LDAP portion of authentication, you will be given the following options where you can fill out the following details for your company's LDAP setup.

    1. Server URL

    2. Service User Bind Attribute

    3. Service User DN

    4. Service User Password (x2 for password authentication)

    5. User Search Base

    6. User Search Filter

    7. Group Search base

    8. Group Search Filter

    9. Group User DN Attribute

    10. User Display Name Attribute

    11. User Email Attribute

Active Directory

 The Active Directory connector is deprecated and we suggest using the LDAP connector.

Polarity can be integrated with a company's Active Directory (AD) system. 

To set up AD:

  1. Navigate to Settings 

  2. Click on the Client Authenticationtab

  3. On this tab you will be provided with three methods for user authentication, Local Authentication, Lightweight Directory Access Protocol and Active Directory. Navigate toActive Directory.

  4. Once in the "AD" portion of authentication, you will be given the following options, fill out the necessary information for your company's AD setup and click the SAVE CHANGES button.

    1. Server URL

    2. Principal Name Pattern

    3. Service Account's Username

    4. Service Account's password (x2 for authentication)

    5. The Base Domain Name

    6. The Group Name Required for Access

    7. The Email Address Shown in Polarity

    8. The Full Name of the User

SMTP Settings

Here Administrators can adjust various SMTP settings for the server.

SMTP Settings:

  • Host (Required)

  • Port (Required)

  • Username

  • Password

  • From email address (Required)

  • Connection Security (Required)

Additional Options:

  • Timeout Duration (Required)

  • Domain (Required)

  • Authentication (Required)

Not receiving emails or want to confirm that your SMTP settings are configured correctly?

Use the Test SMTP Settings button on this page to send a test email to the email address configured in the From email address field.
